Each stage has some awesome effects to it. The characters all look great and some of them (Venom always springs to mind) have phenomenal animation that will really knock your socks off. I still think that Marvel vs Capcom 2 is a fantastic looking game. No matter how serious you get about the game one thing that is for sure is that you will be having a great time. This is a game that has some serious depth to it if you want to learn it properly.
On the flip side of this, you can also get very, very in-depth with the combat. The controls are actually quite simple so that makes it a game that anyone can pick up and have fun with. What I really like about this game is that it is the kind of game anyone can play. You can call in other characters to help you during a battle, tag in and tag out and you can produce these epic super combos that are just spectacular to look at as well as do. Each battle requires that you defeat all three characters from the opposing team. This is a fighting game where you pick any three characters you want to form a super team. What really makes Marvel vs Capcom 2 so fondly remembered is the combat.
Each character has various colors as well so the roster is the most diverse the series has ever seen. I always have a very fun time with this when I fire it up.You have various Avengers, X-Men and Spider-Man characters as well as people from franchises such as Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, Mega Man, Resident Evil and more. Even though it is much more basic than Marvel vs Capcom 2. However, if you want a vs game that is a tad more scaled back, give this one a try. I know that most people completely overlook Marvel vs Capcom Clash of Superheroes these days as its sequel blows it away in pretty much every regard. He is also tough as nails so you better bring your A-game when you face him! You can also play vs mode, but the home ports on the Dreamcast and even the PlayStation do have other modes for you to enjoy.
The end boss is Onslaught and he is pretty awesome. Brace For The Onslaught!Įach character has their own ending so you will probably want to beat the game with them all. You can switch between characters as you fight, so you have one getting a bit of health back as they rest. It is crazy to think we were all flipping out over the super moves in Super Street Fighter II Turbo just a few years before this. These are where you launch your opponent in the air and dish out some heavy-duty damage.Īs you have two characters, you can also do team attacks and these are amazing. Much of the skill if you ask me revolves around being able to land massive air combos. However, there is a deep level of skill here too.
You can button mash your way through this game and have a fun time doing so. This is much flashier and dare I say, easier to get into. Marvel vs Capcom Clash of Superheroes does not play like your typical Street Fighter game that is for sure. This roster is also stacked with a great selection of Marvel and Capcom favorites. For example, Strider, Mega Man, and Captain Commando! Before each fight, you are assigned a random assist character that will help you out. However, other Capcom franchises were used as well. It still featured some Street Fighter characters in Ryu, Chun-Li, and Zangief. It was the Capcom side that was most interesting this time around. You have many heavyweights on the Marvel side such as Spider-Man, Wolverine, Hulk, Captain America, and Venom. You have a selection of 15 characters which at the time was fine, but by today’s standards is very limited. The “gimmick” of Marvel vs Capcom Clash of Superheroes is that you do not just pick one character, you need to pick two.
